MJFChat: The Five Azure Services Every IT Pro Needs to Know About

You can find the transcription of the interview, here.

We’ve started a new, twice-monthly interview show on Petri.com that will cover topics of interest to our tech-professional audience. We are calling this show “MJFChat.”

Read the Best Personal and Business Tech without Ads

Staying updated on what is happening in the technology sector is important to your career and your personal life but ads can make reading news, distracting. With Thurrott Premium, you can enjoy the best coverage in tech without the annoying ads.

In my role as Petri’s Community Magnate, I will be interviewing a variety of IT-savvy folks. Some of these will be Petri contributors; some will be tech-company employees; some will be IT pros. We will be tackling various subject areas in the form of 30-minute audio interviews. I will be asking the questions, the bulk of which we’re hoping will come from you, our Petri.com community of readers.

We will ask for questions a week ahead of each chat. Readers can post their suggested questions in the designated “MJFChat” area in our Petri.com forums. Once the interviews are completed — and hopefully on the same day the interview is done — we will post the audio and associated transcript in the forums for readers to digest at their leisure.

Our next MJFChat, scheduled for Monday, June 10, is between me and Aidan Finn, an Azure Most Valuable Professional (MVP) and Principal Consultant at Innofactor. (Finn also is a regular contributor to Petri.com.) The general topic of our chat is “The Five Azure Services Every IT Pro Needs to Know About.” While Finn will definitely have his own take on that topic, we also want to encourage you to submit your best questions about Azure ahead of our chat here in the forums.

Currently, Microsoft offers more than 100 different Azure services, which can seem a bit overwhelming for those relatively new to Redmond’s cloud. Azure services run the gamut from basic compute, storage and virtual machines, to things like Windows Virtual Desktop, Cosmos DB, the Azure Kubernetes Service and Azure Blockchain Service. Finn can help IT pros focus on the types of services that they may want to explore — whether they’re newbies or more experienced Azure/cloud customers. And he’ll be ready to answer questions ranging from how best to get started, to how to maximize your return on investment with Azure.

If you know someone you’d like to see interviewed on the MJFChat show, including yourself, send me a note at [email protected] (Let me know why you think this person would be an awesome guest and what topics you’d like to see covered.) We’ll take things from there….
