    Hi,

I understand you have a GPO that enforce the Firewall on your XP machines.

So, you can’t turn the Firewall on or off locally on the XP machines if the setting is applied from your domain’s GPO, you should also see on your windows xp machines where the policy is in place the message saying : some settings are controlled by group policy.

Re: Exchange 2007 with Office 2007 SP1 Clients

Here is one quote translation from a random user (was written in hebrew):

“After a lot of arguments with MS on the phone
i proved them that the problem is Service Pack 1 of office 2007
When sending from outlook 2007 to outlook 2007 a meeting when sp1 is installed it just stucks completely
remove all the office (you can’t jsut remove SP1) and reinstall office 2007 with out sp it will solve the problem and outlook won’t stuck”

    Re: Active Directory Network Ports

    Hi,

    Take a look here.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555381

on my Firewall at work i configured the following ports from clients toward the DC servers :

    DCE-RPC, DNS, ICMP_ANY, Kerberos, LDAP, NTP, PING, nbdatagram_138, nbname_137, nbsession_139, tcp_445, ldap_udp_389, TCP_1025

    DNS is TCP/53 UDP/53
    DCE-RPC is TCP/135 UDP/135

I never turn on the windows server 2003 firewall though.

Hope you work it out, will also wait for others people replies

    Allright

    problem is solved.
reinstalled wsus and choose 8530 port and not recommended, i guess there was some mismatch on the server and clients settings

    now it’s ok

    Thanks to everybody

Have a look at this article I found in WSUS Blog: http://msmvps.com/blogs/athif/archive/2006/05/08/Error_80072efd.aspx

Basically the clients use Winhttp proxy settings to access the WSUS server.
This is different than the Proxy settings used in IE. If the later is configured in IE and the WinHTTP proxy is set to null (In your case) then the above error occurs.

Anyways, have a look at the article and see if the workaround does the trick for you.

    Cheers

that could be an issue, but it was ok like that against other’s company wsus server, now that i changed i recieve diffrent error

    VerifyWUServerURL() failed with hr=0x80190193

    Hi, some info,

    Hi,

no site issue, 1 building, 1 domain, two vlans with FW between.
firewall is not enabled on the exchange server (win2k3 and exchange 2007)
i realized this does not happen to me almost at all, so i thought about firewall (not the os firewall) the fortigate firewall i own, but as far as i saw i opened all the correct ports.

Sorin, my problem on my pc is related to SP3, for granted.
that TweakUI doesn’t help in my case ;)
Rebuild did not fix it as well
