Can I increase the tombstone life and then connect ADC and member servers?

I understand your point. But unfortunately I need to demonstrate this to my customer. If I can show some Microsoft links related to this, he will be convinced.

Also you have put an interesting point below
Each DC should use it’s partner DC for primary DNS. Each DC should use itself for secondary DNS. Each DC should use 127.0.0.1 for tertiary DNS.
Why should I put 127.0.0.1 for tertiary DNS?

    Re: XP Workgroup Environment

I am trying to deploy McAfee ePO.
I have tested the same in a domain environment works fine but in workgroup it fails.

In the first place I have to make sure that \hostnamec$ prompts for username and password. The firewall is disabled, what else do I need to verify?

    Re: XP Workgroup Environment

I have around 50 xp systems in workgroup and I have to deploy antivirus from a central console which is failing. During the deployment I am supplying admin credentials but it fails. Since manually accessing C$ is not prompting for username/password, I need to resolve this issue. ie: make it prompt for username/password whenever I access C$. How can I enable it?

    Re: Windows Duplicate Host names

The main duplicate names are on XP machines and I dont see much flexibility in the firewall rules. May be I need o define exceptions for allowed traffic and drop rest. Will it drop broadcast traffic as well so that duplicate names can co exist?

    Re: Windows Duplicate Host names

Seems to be a good solution. I hope it will bock all windows broadcast traffic which is killing “server” & “Browser Service” on duplicate systems.

Also is Windows firewall a state-full firewall?

    Re: Windows Duplicate Host names

programmable logic controller, it’s sensitive so host name can not be renamed.

If I setup WINS in each floor and point it to them, can I limit the broadcase to each floor? Is there any way to implement MAC level access list?

    Re: Windows Duplicate Host names

This option is ruled out because some of the interfaces are connected to PLC. Is there any option that will prevent the netbios traffic from one floor to another?
