I am on vacation… Didn’t have time to respond. I tried 2 deployments using image of fr ca. Didn’t get positive result using CS language as you recommended and without. Sure that installation from the ft ca iso was with right result. Will try again on return.

Hi,

first I appreciate your time. Strange I saw your second reply in my e-mail notif, but did not find it on actual tread…

So, I keep your notes and suggestions as a second step to try.

I am really surprised that you pointed to W10 French Canadian source. I was sure, I never saw it. It was English or French.

For fun I logged in to MS Licensing portal… and my jaw just dropped down… Yes there is French Canadian in language selection.

I guess it started with Windows 10. I think for W7 there was only French ISO.

So I am installing a new VM for capture. Will bring an update. May be it will do the trick without any additional efforts when deploying.

From the other hand during Capture sysprep screws up every manual setting (at least language related) then CS.ini should be adjusted…

We’ll see with the new installation source.

Thanks again.

Hi,

>What is your question exactly?? Are you looking on how to configure MDT to set you region/language settings to French Canadian? I believe this is what you are doing

It is exactly what I am trying to fix …

1. this is my current entry that brings Francais Multilingual and not Francais-Canada that I need:

SkipLocaleSelection=YES

KeyboardLocale=”fr-ca; 0c0c:00001009″

UserLocale=fr-CA

UILanguage=fr-FR

2. the only difference with yours proposal is that I have “fr-ca;” in KeyboardLocale line.

As mentioned it not works.

3. I started the thread because in found article I see the point where the code “0c0c:00001009” corresponds to both Canadian French and Canadian Multilingual Standard:

0c0c:00000409 “French (Canada) – US”

0c0c:00001009 “French (Canada) – Canadian French”

0c0c:00011009 “French (Canada) – Canadian Multilingual Standard”

4. further I saw another language code “InputLocale=0c0c:00000409” with the explanation:

Use the following [RegionalSettings] section:

[RegionalSettings]

LanguageGroup=1

SystemLocale=00000c0c

UserLocale=00000c0c

InputLocale=0c0c:00000409

This will set “French (Canada)” as the System Locale and the User Locale. It

will also add “French (Canada) – US” as a second Input Locale. Note that

“French (Canada) – Canadian French” will be installed as the default Input

Locale once the User Locale is set to 00000c0c (provided step 1 above has

been followed).

5. Does my thinking make any sense?

here is the original article whith the explanation of the solution for Fr-CA keyboard.

Am I in a right way of thinking? I have no luck for getting French Canada. Just French Multilingual after deployment with MDT.

And yes I don’t have issue with the Time Zone that is set to Eastern Standard Time.

the solution was simple, suggested by my colleague…

this script finally calls the script on the last line: oShell.Run “cscript.exe //nologo “”” & WScript.ScriptFullName & “..LiteTouch.vbs”””,,FALSE

and it is LiteTouch.vbs

that is… we bypass all messages and go straight to the script for the task

Hi Ossian, don’t be sorry :) for not having a canned solution
you helped not once and I appreciate…

this what I did…

created batch Partit.bat with the commands:

pushd %~dp0
diskpart /s resize.txt

and placed along with it my resize.txt

select volume 1
shrink desired=20000
select disk 0
create partition primary
select partition 3
format fs=ntfs quick
assign letter=d
exit

Perfectly works! I added first line in the batch “pushd %~dp0” because diskpart suddenly started to give an error…
I have pretty complex scenario where I am copying some structure from the server to workstations… Brief it started behave…
I don’t entered deep to the question but found a solid fix on web by using this line.

Hi JeremyW
I asked the question on AIX forum and understand that it is not a trivial task… and probably our AIX application vendor is right…
Since I asked the question about copying files from AIX to Windows HIDDEN share you are trying to give an advice…
Let me ask the question another way…
Finally, the goal is to have AIX files available for backing up by VEEAM. That currently backing up 100+ VMs Windows servers from ESX to StoreOnce HP storage .
I need to have AIX data on the same DISK Storage.
I just got couple of ideas…

1. I guess that there should not be a problem of automating file copy from AIX to LINUX
VM. If this is not possible than I give UP smile.gif
2. If the 1 is correct, than the problem is solved. I will have have a Linux VM on ESX containing AIX files that could be easily restored or pushed to Tape library for off site purposes.

3. Another thought…
is it possible to create a task that will run PSCP within Server 2012 for transferring files from AIX to WINDOWS machine? I used this not once from Linux machines in the past. Remember that actually credentials were used.

It is not an obligation to be pushed from AIX. I need to find a way to pull it may be from Windows or Linux machine.

May be better suggestion in this direction?

4. another one … probably not valid… let say the files can be copied to anonymously accessible Windows share (I saw some technics on web that do that)… Is there a way to run a script in scheduled task that will password protect a share after backup window and remove credential put back to everyone (anonymous) before backup time.

Thanks.

Well, it was not something we were concerned about because we require complexity. We discovered it because we had to call in a consultant after DNS stopped working after setting up a new domain and he tried changing passwords and pointed out that password complexity could not be disabled. However(!), a quick search discovered this: https://www.petri.com/disable_passwo…win2003_domain

Give it a go and see if it helps with your short usernames.

Hi
Already tried that and it didn’t work.
Even if my username is above 5 letters, I still get error about password complexity if it doesn’t

Hi,
I have disabled Password Complexity by following these instructions:

How to Disable Password Complexity Requirements in Windows Server OS?
http://www.askvg.com/how-to-disable-password-complexity-requirements-in-windows-server-2003-and-2008/

I then did:

gpupdate /force

This was done last week. Yesterday I tried to create a username “w” which is 1 character long and then when
I tried to input the password twice I received the same message:

“Windows cannot set the password for w because:
“The password does not meet the password policy requirements. Check the minimum password length,
password complexity and password history requirements.”

This is the message I get when the USERNAME length is between 1 to 5 letters long. When it’s 6 letters long
then I succeed in creating the username.

Tom,
Yes, you got it right.

RicklesP,
I already have played with username lengths below and above 6 letters.
The password change works fine for a username above 6 letters long but not below 6.
I don’t believe that the error message I receive is the problem but rather a symptom.

As mentioned from 10 to 11 don’t see any problem. We have at least 20% of the large park on IE11.

Our existing IE GPOs (couple of them) are pretty heavy for accommodation of all browser versions and different external web applications. Unfortunately, this is the reality of large environment.
Of course for this project I will use new GPO.
