Did you move your exchange databases from the default location perhaps to another disk?

Can you run a few test scenarios.
What does OWA look like when outlook is closed, does the email stay in the inbox?
How about when not using cached mode for outlook?

Do you have alot of sharing of mailboxes between users? IE Sue and Bill.
Sue can see her own email but also has Bill shared as a second mailbox?

We are going a bit off topic here……..but

Certainly!! Many years ago I switched my entire business model to a very simple formula. Time = Money. Everything else is at no markup. I dont resell anything, nor markup any hardware, I dont care where the hardware comes from. I have my recommendations, but you can do what you like. I never have to match prices, nor get fished for recommendations and then loose to amazon (or whatever they call it aussie -land). I just start the clock.
Now to the cloud, I dont even mark that up, I just buy it wholesale, and pass it along to my client. Keeps them happy, loyal, and best of all referals ;)

Re: is a microserver enough ?

I hear you; QB and Access are the two biggest reason to NOT go cloud.
I have a client, very busy office, with no server, about 25 users. They have fiber to the internet (FIOS) works great. I almost never hear from them, They love it.
    YMWV.

Not sure what to say about AV, but If you could get a nice firewall for DHCP, and then perhaps just a NAS would do??

Not sure if you considered it, or if its appropriate, but have you explored cloud options. If you dont need exchange, and do need the scalability, it would be perfect.
Can you elaborate on how much data and what else do they need a “server” for?

Are you sure it’s 7GB? All the literature I’ve found says 2GB. Naturally, Google has hidden all of the information regarding the Standard edition so I can’t find an official answer.

Just for the record google now offers 10gb.

Not saying its for you, but its certainly not 2gb. Maybe thats where is started.

Google Apps is actually around 7gb, for the free one. And $50 per year for paid (25gb). It does meet all your requirements.

Exchange is not really designed for catchalls, unless you specificly configure it you wont find it. Non-MS mailservers do have that option built in so more providers offer it. I highly doubt you will find a Hosted exchange provider at all that will do this.

There is not that much you can do, but google SPF and set that up.
At least you can let everyone else know that his emails are fake, while yours from your server are legit.

    and start here.

I am not aware of any way do what you ask, but perhaps a marco and submit and refresh, but then it is harder to distribute.

That is like giving someone a house, making him responsible for renovations, he can move furniture in and out, even sell it. But cannot copy the house key.

You don’t say what technology is housing this form, but if it web you would need something ajaxy to collect and redisplay on the fly.
A word or pdf doc would need a “submit” or “refresh” in order to collect prior data a use it to display options. Pretty sure the same for outlook forms….

Re: Granting SQL read only access

    Good.
By default sql does not grant access to any user, so in sql server management you will have to make some changes.
But first Create a group in AD, like “MyDatabaseAccessUsers”
Then in visual studio or enterprise manager you add that group read only access to that specific DB.
    See here for 2000
    or management studio for 2005/2008

Re: Exchange and Multiple Public IP Addresses

Sure can but need more info about your setup.
What kind of gateway device do you have, can you have dual WANs, and can you assign them the public IPs, and then route to exchange.

On the DNS side you will have to create 2 MX records, same priority, like mail1.example.com and mail2.example.com.

Dont forget to create the A records for the domains above to the IPs of each ISP.

    Re: Layered NAT for "security"?

I am shocked, surely you need to setup all your clients on this “layered” approach.
Nah just kidding. :) You are sane indeed.

I have never heard of such a thing. Most bizarre. Unless you really need to segregate the network, this is total BS.

Perhaps you can explain to them its like strapping yourself into a car for safety and then placing the entire car in another car “for added protection”.

Take the most powerful router/firewall that you have there, make it exclusive and sell the rest.

Re: Smart Phones for purely business use?

The curve series of BBs are cheapo consumer trash. You need to get a business one.
The BB takes a while to get used to, but once you know all the keyboard shortcuts, it is hands down better then any other phone out there for business use. I dont care much for touchscreen, if I can use a shortcut I will. Its more accurate that way. IMO

It took a while but I deleted all the social apps that have crept into the OS6.
You should really have BES to enjoy full benifits of the BB, so if you dont have one in your workplace dont bother with a BB.

In terms of security the BB is by far the leader, but thats a whole new topic.

PDF viewing is native in OS6.

On the other hand f you want to enjoy a holistic apple zen moment, get an iPhone…and a shower

I noticed that the remote and local networks are both 192.168.1.xxx
    Is that right?
It will never work, you need to change one or the other to 192.168.2.xxx or similar. Or even 10.0.0.xxx

I would change the remote (non-sbs) network of course………

if the virus is out of control, meaning it spread faster then you can cleanup, try rkill.
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/anti-virus/rkill

Then before rebooting, do a virus scan + malwarebytes + pray.
