Re: Router on a stick and Nat on a Stick

So youre saying i could create a proxy server in a windows machine ? and the connect it to vlan10 to make internet for others ? not a bad idea. I have a Windows 2003 server as a dns server and games server, can i intall the proxy server on that vlan ?

Re: Router on a stick and Nat on a Stick

hello, i thought that it would be that, but the problem is that i dont have access to the adsl router, because it’s not mine. Is there any other way ? Probably i can change the vlan 10 to the subnet 192.168.1.0 and connect the adsl modem thernet cable to a fa port available in the switch, at least for one vlan to have internet, is it possible ?

Re: Router on a stick and Nat on a Stick

Thx for the answer, i’m going to put here the switch and router configs. I can ping from any vlan on the switch to 192.168.1.2 that if the fa0/1 port of the cisco router, but i cannot ping the adsl router that is connected to that port with ip 192.168.1.1.

Thank you very much for the details, nice way to start. I noticed that you were using a 3550, i have 3500 XL, does it work the same way ? because this switch doesent support intervlan, i’m using router on a stick.

Re: Vlan Question on Cisco Switches

Well Starting to understand this Cisco Stuff, now next part is to know howto permit and not permit comunication between VLANS , or to not have Internet. What i want is that vlan 3 only can connect to vlan 2 throw a specific port, is that possible ? Another one, is i have my cisco switch setup as router on a stick using eth 0/1 in trunk mode with cisco router 2600 series that gives internet to vlans and makes the routing between vlans.. now i whant to block vlans3 from accessing the internet at all, is that possible ? Well i could just take out the default gateway from the dhcp pool, but i could probably give internet access one time or another for windows updates etc etc. so is ther anyway that anyone can help me with this ? I have a cisco 3500XL and a cisco router 2600.

    Re: Cannot Ping Router

Sorry for answering so late, but was on vacation. Well i had to add a static route to the adsl router for the 192.168.100.0 and 192.168.101.0 subnets, and that is where things started to work. In the Cisco Router i knew that i didn’t need to do the route because the router makes the routing between the ethernet ports when configurated. So i have to add the vlan’s subnet to the adsl router to work correctly? or i wasent supose to need to do that?

    Re: Cannot Ping Router

Hmmm i did that only after it wasent working, but anyway i got it to work. In the adsl router i added a static route to 192.168.100.0 and 192.168.101.0 networks and it started working and can go to the internet with no problem. I thought that by using fa0/1 with 192.168.0.0 subnet i wouldnt have to make a static route on the adsl router, or i dont have to ?

So, what you want is to integrate DNS with active directory, go to DNS server and select “DNS Type: Active Directory Integrated”. For the second AD, run dcpromo process and join the server to an existing forest, the replication will work with no problem.

    You can read This:

Anyway, telling about your system would be good, what OS you have, if windows server or Sbs etc etc….just folow the forum rules and it would be easyer to help you.

EDIT: found this, dont know if it rings a bell: In E2K3, there was no real distinction between server roles. All protocol heads were available on all roles.

In E2K7, there is a clear distinction of what services are available on which roles:
    – SMTP runs on HUB/Edge
    – POP/IMAP/OWA/Airsync/OutlookAnywhere (aka RPC/HTTP) runs on CAS (if you wanted the CAS to be able to accept mail for POP/IMAP clients, then you’d also need to install the Hub transport on that server)
    – The mailbox is just about storage and the core MAPI protocol

If you want a single server to have both SMTP & POP/IMAP on them, then you will need to install the HUB & CAS roles (You cannot install the Edge role on a server which has the CAS role on it).

    Re: Pop Grabber?

Yes it works very well on x64. I had it working in a win 2003 x86 and then passed to a SBS2008 that is x64 with Exchange 2007 and works like a charm.

    Glad to Help.

EDIT: Anyway i dont recomend having more than one pop grabber in the system. Setup correctly in a testing environment, then after all working ok, you can just copy the entire Folder of the program and put it in the working server and run the service of popbeamer to start it. Dont do it in a working environment or you may loose information.
