    Re: Netbios turns off

    Progress.

I was doing some more research and found that NetBIOS will only work under a couple of NodeTypes. The PC with the issue is set to unknown the other PCs are all hybrid. According to MS I can add the key
    HKLMSYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesNetBTParametersNodeType dword=8
and that will force it to a hybrid node type, however I have done this and rebooted node type is still set to unknown. The reg key is still the way I set it.

TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper is started. Good thought sorry it took so long to get back to you, but it’s been behaving for a while now.

Re: Workstation service will not start

    Thanks for the reply Dave.

I tried to do as suggested, but was unable to it as the system blue screens due to lack of HD controller driver every time I run the XP CD. I have the HD controller driver on floppy, but even when I F6 it into the installation I’m still getting a no room on drive blue screen. This also is preventing me from just formatting then reloading.

    Re: NetBIOS disabled

    Fixed

TY for the post my nbtstat -n returned “NetBT is not bound to any devices.”

Which pointed me to a couple of other things.
also these commands may fix it if anyone has the same issue.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

It was fixed by a reinstall of the NIC drivers.
