Re: exchange 2013 ecp
Not sure you to re-install anything, perhaps this thread can help you, read some of the responses, i think they may help you.
if not reply back.
cheers
Re: exchange 2013 ecp
Did you install exchange 2013 from CU1?
there is a bug in the initial release of exchange 2013 when installing 2013 into a 2010 organisation
you need to install exchange 2013 from Exchange 2013 Update CU1.
To access the EAC for a native Exchange 2013 Org, you would just enter https:///ecp
However, for a mixed Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2013 Org, you must explicitly place the Exchange 2013 CAS Server name, and the Exchange version in the url. Otherwise, you just see the Exchange Control Panel (ECP) interface.
example = https://MYSERVER/ecp?ExchClientVer=15
When you have decommissioned 2010 then this wont be required any longer.
“Get-ExchangeServer | fl name, edition, admindisplayversion” < — this will get you your exchange 2013 version number if ran from Exchange Powershell on the 2013 machine.
http://emailmigrations.com/exchange-2013-cu1-in-exchange-2010-org-quick-guide/
Hope this helps.
Re: exchange 2013 ecp
you need to specify the version of exchange in the url
https://yourserver/ecp?ExchClientVer=15
Cheers.

so your trying to configure your server with an Internet facing IP address behind a router?
i take it you have multiple static IP addresses giving to you by the service provider, or you sharing/Bridging the WAN IP with transparent routing, have you configured the router for Routing and not NAT so that the router can route traffic to your server instead of NAT.
and configure the default gateway to the Router or ISP gateway?
i hope i have understood your issue correctly and this should resolve it.
if this did indeed work untill last night then the router config must of changed.
Re: FQDN computername in security events
Are these domains in different forests? you mention trusts but i’m not sure if that is what you mean, could you please verify if they domains are in different forests or in the same forest.
Does “pc-d-3261” resolve with both DNS suffix’s mydomain.local and myotherdomain.local on the DC of domain A to the same IP?
Ping -a x.x.x.x on the DC what hostname is resolved?
What is the exact DNS server configuration of the DC in Domain A, any delegated Zones or stubzones?
do you have a reverse lookup zone for Domain B?
Thanks.
Re: Replication Between two sites
OK,
First thing to check is if the Transport is IP or SMTP, you can check this in the sites and services under NTDS settings.
you can download Microsoft Network monitor here – http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=4865
i assume you can RDP to the remote server? if not you can only check if the local office server is connecting the right server:port and what response if coming back.
maybe you have already.. try restarting FRS service and RPC (Remote Procedure Call) also check the the server address resolves to the correct IP Address.
double check there is no IP Filtering enabled in RRAS or and 3rd party software firewalls enabled.
Hope this gives you a few ideas, let me know how they go.
Re: FQDN computername in security events
Check the PC’s DNS Suffix under Advanced settings of Computer Properties, there is a more button where you change the name of the PC.
i can’t a reason why else this would happen unless its by design.
Re: Replication Between two sites
Hey
Do you have any firewalls in place, either on the Sever itself or a Appliance?
seems like there is a communication issue with LDAP, maybe some outbound filtering on the office side or inbound filtering on the remote side.
Thanks
Re: Disable LAN Properties for Local Admins.
Exactly what i’m trying to do, some components of Visual Studio do not work as Power Users, so i need to be able to disable them from changing IP to static.
but i see your point and am aware of it.
Thanks.

Hi there.
I use Nagios to Monitor Exchange and Non-Exhange SMTP Servers.
there are plugin’s(WMI/PSH) already created or you can create your own.
with Nagios there windows/Linux clients that can be installed that manage the scripts and alert the nagios web service, maybe there is a PRTG community site with the same information.
Hope this helps maybe.
Re: Site to Site VPN
I have had soem problem’s in the past where the remote device was dropping out but the local device was still established and the remote device would try to reconnect constantly but fail becuase of the current session key limit.. this is one possibility.
another issue would be to check your IKE policy settings for things like PFS ( Perfect Forward security) and make sure both ends are identitical.
hope this helps.

Re: Awk / sed
Thanks for your input.
it doesn’t quite work i believe that to be my own fault as i stated that the field delimiter is TAB however the time stamp field (field 2) does not contain “” i put them in becuase there is a space inbetween DATE^TIME.
so each line in a file called gas.txt actually looks like
Refill Liquid 2010/08/21 12:59 00:06:00
Where spaces are actually tabs except for ‘2010/08/21 12:59’ the space here is actuall a space and not a new field.
is your existing code editable to contain with this?
thanks

Hi, sorry for the delay.
I have left the server for the weekend to replicate etc, and the problem is now resolved.
I believe it to have been caused by a failed DCPromo of an old 2003 DC, i did however use the proper procedure at that time to manualy remove a DC from AD but it seems the “NTDS Settings” object did not remove or did not make a complete replication at the time of removal.
i used ADSI Edit to locate the “LostAndFoundConfig” container and removed the Setting from their.
Thanks

I used ADSI Edit and found the culprit (Hopefully)..
Thanks.

Thanks L4ndy.
But there doesnt appear to be anything in the LostAndFound Directory when using the AD GUI.
Re: Speed up logon for users
When do you get these slow logon’s? consistantly thorugh the day? in the mornings?
DNS can commonly cause slow logons, locating SRV records etc, also on the server storing the profile’s have you done any bandwidth and resource monitoring?
try this

If i have a cluster with two devices, do i make the cluster address the parent, or the clusternodes the parent?
If I make the cluster nodes the parent, then if one fails, it will assume the cluster is downim confusing myself :P
but it’s relating to nagios in that I’m trying to work out hte most appropriate way to setup the parent relationship for the host object configuration
Ive not found a way to have more than 1 parent, i guess you could make the load balancers parent of the cluster IP, then have the cluster nodes parent of eachother.
or if no loadbalancers then have Switch parent to cluster IP m the cluser nodes parent eachother, that way if the cluster nodes fail you get a specific alert just for the failover and if there is a total cluster failure your monitring the cluster IP, you can also monitor the specifc services.
Hope this helps

scurlaruntings;186772 wrote:Geek :-P Nothing wrong with either of those package managers or precompiled binaries for that matter. What you use on the client? Presumably SNMP? Or does Nagios have its own agent like Zabbix does? Only ever used Nagios very sparingly as iv favored Zenoss in the past but you’ve made this look so pretty an all! :-PSorry took so long to reply,
The server are installed with a small plugin called NSClient++ works with win2k to 2008, uses a custom protocol with encrytion options, basically remotely executes SNMP or WMI tasks and send back the results to nagios, its very nice.
Re: switching between ipv4 and ipv6 via command line
You want to use IPv6 without using the TCP/IP stack….
Im confused.
Re: Error when install secondary AD?
What is the IP address of your AD Domain controller?
And what Primary DNS IP address did you configure on your New DC?
Re: switching between ipv4 and ipv6 via command line
“netsh interface ipv6 install”
works fine on 2003 Server.Re: DNS forwarding
To my knowledge that should work just fine.
October 16, 2009 at 10:06 am in reply to: Weird IP Address and MAC conflict on AD 2003 R2 network #354267Re: Weird IP Address and MAC conflict on AD 2003 R2 network
Clear the Arp Cache.
“netsh interface ip delete arpcache”
run this on machines in question and possibly the dhcp server.
you can also clear arp cache on your swithes if all else fails.
Re: RIP – What I missed ?
C 192.168.2.0/24 is directly connected, Ethernet1/1
This doesnt seem right to me on R1…
Re: RRAS and Site-to-site Routing
1 Solution would be to use a Cisco PIX/ASA and have Cisco VPN client installed and setup Split tunneling this will resolve your issue, i hevent played with RRAS enough to see if thete is a way to fix the issue.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/bb878117.aspx
here is a document on Split Tunneling fro RRAS
The Classless Static Routes DHCP Option seems like the best option for you, the link contains some info on how to configre it with DHCP.
Re: DNS forwarding
2 Clients, each have a primary and secondary DNS server AD1 and AD2
AD1 is taken offline, AD1 is primary of client, client makes recursive query to AD1 gets no response, makes the same query to AD2.
AD2 looks up its forwarders and performs a recursive query to Forwarder 1, gets no response, this timeout can be set on your DNS server (how long it waits) then performs the same query to forwarder 2 and gets response.
like the others have said, if both forwarders fail then the DNS server will send iterative queries to root hints “.” untill it can find an authoritive response.
Hope this give you a general idea on what you asked for a a fail over senario.
Re: Child domain dns issues
Is the zone active Directory integrated?
Did you have a child domain existing before you promoted to DC?
If its not active directory integarted then you need to either, make the TCP/IP properties for DNS point to the root server or add the root server as a forwarder.
Thanks
EDIT: L4ndy in before me.. :p agree with L4ndy better way.
Re: Nagios How to.
Yes, these are my instructions, my config files, most online guides tell you to install nagios from package managers using Aptitude or Yum etc, i like to install from source.
Hence why i wrote it this way :)
