Re: The following website doesn’t open most of the times (both in IE & Firefox)?

I am sorry, that is typing mistake. I can’t access using the IP addresss.
My internet connection is DSL over CAT5. See how my internet connection is:
My PC – Hub – Router in the ISP local office – wireless subscriber-unit ( mounted on the roof of local office).
I can not recycle router bcz, it is in ISP’s local office.

I think I have to check it with the my ISP.

    Thank you.

No, I can’t access using the IP whenever I can’t access it with FQDN.
My PC is not in a domain or workgroup, it is single PC
My IP is static IP, not assigned by DHCP.
I have attached the result of ipconfig /all command as attachment.

    Thank you.

Re: The following website doesn’t open most of the times (both in IE & Firefox)?

    Thank you for your concern.

    Information:
I think it is not blocked by ISP, bcz the website opens sometimes but, what is the use when it doesn’t open when we want it?
I can access the http://www.medhelp.org website in my office but, not in my home PC. My friends who has accessed the website don’t have internet connection in home. They too accessed from office.
I can access the website using the IP address.
    ipconfig /flushdns didn’t work
There is no router/modem connected to my PC to power cycle.
I am attaching the result of the tracert command as image.

    Thank you.

Re: The following website doesn’t open most of the times (both in IE & Firefox)?

Yes, both mine and my friends DNS resolving the http://www.medhelp.org to 209.116.55.132
I have checked with other friends as well, they can open the websites.
I am not using proxy server or content filter….
    flushdns didn’t work.
But, one of the above mentioned website (http://www.ivillage.com message boards) is opened few hours after I have posted the question.
But, what is the use when websites doesn’t open when we need it?

Actually, I have resolved the issue one month back myself by searching google. But, I forget it now.

    Thank you.

Re: Which type of internet connection is most used in corporate world?

My friend has provided the wrong information that he is using Dial Up connection.
I has checked his connection today. It is DSL over twisted pair, not Dial Up.
    Sorry for the mistake.

Please check the following link which describes achieving more than 56 Kbps, I am not sure about this.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dial_up#Using_compression_to_exceed_56k

    Thank you for your time.

    Thank you for the reply.

I have read in many articles that the max speed that we can get with dial up connection is 56 Kbps but, my neighbour is getting 256 kbps from a telecom company .
Is there any technique behind that? I have read in wikipedia that we can achieve more than 56 kbps using compression techniques like v.44.

I’ve experienced another BSOD error today. I have scanned with Norton Internet Security, Spybot, and Malwarebytes and deleted one Trojan.

Do clicking sound from the hard disk means hard disk is going to fail?It has passed all the tests of Seatools.
Is there any possibility with virus or a bad RAM can cause these clicking sounds from hard disk?

Re: Issue with customizing office 2007 installation?

The mistake is that I have asked my friend to buy an MS office 2007 CD which is licensed for multiple computers.
But, mistakenly he bought the disk which licensed for single computer.

I have rechecked it with Microsoft and confirmed that it is only for single computer. It is my bad luck.

I have again googled and find an article by an MVP which describes the customization of office installation.

Re: Issue with customizing office 2007 installation?

    The issue has solved.

Customizing office 2007 installation ( Install only required applications ) :

Incert the office CD. The installation program asks for the Product Key, then moves on to ‘Accept the terms of this Agreement’ and then to a screen where you choose ‘Install Now’ or Customize’. Choose Customize.

On the Installation Options tab you see a list showing the components of Office – icons labelled MS Excel, MS Outlook and so on. There is a ‘+’ to the left of each icon and a down arrow on the right of each icon.

Click the down arrow on the Excel icon and select ‘Run from My Computer’. Do the same with the Word and PPT icons.

Now click the down arrow for Outlook and select ‘Not Available’. Do the same for the Visio Viewer, Shared Features and Office Tools icons. You are now ready to install. Click Install Now. When finished click Close.

You will find only Word, Excel and PPT are installed.

Re: Issue with customizing office 2007 installation?

Actually, we are installing systems ( just 4 systems ) in a orphanage school.
The systems are old and have very low hardware configuration.
Some are with 512 and remaining are with 256 MB of RAM and P3 processors.
We have yet to collect donations to upgrade the hardware.

And, I have changed the drive letter for optical drive. But, issue remains same.

    Thank you.

Re: Issue with customizing office 2007 installation?

I have tried it both ways, with quotes and without quotes.
But, I am getting the same error message.

    I have one doubt.
I have installed xp 2 days back.
I have partition hard disk into C,D,E,F,G
In general the OS will assign ‘G’ letter to the optical drive. But, it has assigned ‘D’ letter.
Do this will affect the current issue that I am experiencing?

I have tried copying all the contents of the MS office CD into a folder in the hard disk and performed the above steps. It was also not work out.

Do you think Open Office as the perfect alternative to MS office?
My concern is that MS office is occupying more memory space.

    Thank you.

Re: Issue with customizing office 2007 installation?

Let me explain you what I have tried.

    1. I have tried to install the only the required applications by choosing the “custom” option after incerting the MS office CD. I have choosen MS word to install but, it has installed all the applications in the office package.

2.So, I have uninstalled unnecessary applications using the MS uninstaller cleanup utility. But, it has uninstalled the MS word as well.

3.Next, I have tried to custom install the MS office in the method mentioned in the following websites.

    http://helpdeskgeek.com/office-tips/office-2007-custom-install/
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/311241

But, I am getting sytax error after typing the command D:Microsoft Office

2007setup.exeadmin. I have tried “D:Microsoft Office 2007setup.exe /admin” as well, with space after setup.exe and without space after setup.exe.

    Thank you for your time.

I am not familiar with modifying the file system and registry permissions. Do performing the following steps will protect the files? If, not, please explain me how to give registry permissions…etc

    Thank you.

    Steps :

1.Open up Windows Explorer and navigate to the folder that you wish to protect.
2.Right-click on it and choose “Properties.”
    3.Click on the “Advanced” button.
4.Under “Compress or Encrypt Attributes,” check the box “Encrypt Contents to Secure Data.” If you do not log on to your computer with a password, you will now be prompted for one.
5.Click “OK” twice and you will now be able to log off and log back in. You will be prompted for a password when trying to access the folder.

They are working on the same user account ( adminstrator ) that I’ve been working.

Actually, they used to work in a guest account. But, due to the limitations of the guest account they are working on the admin account now.

The icon will appear only when the updates to be downloaded or when downloading the updates.

I used to run both Norton Internet security and Spybot search & destroy.

But, I have uninstalled Spybot few days back due to slow performance of the system.

Some people say that antivirus and antispyware are different and some people say they are both same. I would like to know the fact.
