WWN and WWNN

    hi guys,

    can you please let me know the exact difference between World Wide Name and World Wide Node Name? are they same? I could understand the difference between WWNN and WWPN but not the difference between WWN and WWNN. elucidate it kindly

    Thanks for the reply joeqwerty. i have already gone through those links. if i need any thing, the first place i visit is wikipedia. i have also gone through the following link which i found very useful to understand the difference between WWNN and WWPN.

    i again went through the second link you sent and i could understand that WWNN and WWPN are both world wide names. is that what you mean to say? if so, if you want some new space in the SAN, you need to provide world wide name to him. if WWNN and WWPN are both world wide names, which one of them do you provide the SAN admin? i guess it must be WWNN. right? please explain me. i am a bit confused.

    If you read the link you provided, it says: Communications take place between WWPNs.
