Trying to get to the bottom of my WSUS server, as Im certain its not 100% happy. If I run a force update on a client I get an error code – 80244019. Bizarrely some of my clients say they are up to date but the WSUS server is stating that x amount of updates are needed. I ran a WSUS check using the command line tool but it didn’t indicate any errors – is there anything else I can check?
In your WSUS console, in the Updates area, change the view to ‘Approved’ and ‘Failed or Needed’, then refresh the view. What you’ll see is the listing of any updates that have been approved but haven’t yet installed on all the appropriate clients. Look at the first 2 columns, for red circles with X in them–that tells you the updates haven’t downloaded from your upline WSUS source. The error code you mentioned translates to ‘The update didn’t download’, so it’s not available for the clients to install.
