I have a Windows 8 pro Wim image that I am trying to add updates to.

I have tried to do this many ways.

I have tried to mount image install update, dismount image, then Again Mount image install update and dismount image, and so on and so on.

I have also tried to mount image, install update, install update……… and dismount image.

When then try to deploy the image through WDS, and get an error when the image is being installed.

When I use an Wim image without installing updates there are no problem installing the image.

    Am I doing something wrong?

Can you give us any clues about the error message, also exactly what process you are following to update the image (exact commands used, for example)?

It seems that the problem is fixed. I tryied one more time and now I can install Windows without errors. Know I just have another problem.

When I try to add update KB2781197-v2-x64.msu I get this error

    Code:
    C:Program FilesWindows AIKToolsPETools>dism /image:D:mount /add-package /packagepath:”D:UpdatesWindows 8 x64Windows8-RT-KB2781197-v2-x64.msu”
Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
    Version: 6.1.7600.16385
    Image Version: 6.2.9200.16384

D:UpdatesWindows 8 x64Windows8-RT-KB2781197-v2-x64.msu: An error occurred applying the Unattend.xml file from the .msu package.
For more information, review the log file.
    Error: 0x800f082f
    Error: 0x800f082f
DISM failed. No operation was performed.
For more information, review the log file.
The DISM log file can be found at C:WindowsLogsDISMdism.log

    Re: Wim image offline update

Haven’t looked in the log, but a Google search told me that some updates have to be installed in a online image or with sysprep.

So basically I have solved all my issues. What I need now is a way to open a .cab fil. I have tried with 7-zip and other 3rd party programs. Every time I try I get an error Can not open file C:IN1EGC26WW5data1.cab as an archive.

    Re: Wim image offline update

I would say that there is an issue with the CAB file then.

    Re: Wim image offline update

    Maybe.
I have decided to install Windows, drivers and updates and then capture the image.
