    I have a windows server 2008 64bit SP2 VM.
I’m trying to backup the server via windows backup to a shared location.
When i start the backup, it hangs on creating volume shadow copy.
After a while i receive a message “creation of the shared protection point timed out. The shared protection point operation failed with error 0x81000101”

I search it on google and found a solution to create a registry key to increase the time out but, it didn’t helped.

Will be happy if some assist me :-)

    ^^ agree 100% solid advice.

disable a) Volume Shadow Copy service b) Windows backup.

sometimes VSS gets set to manual and it fails. try setting to automatic and re-run the job and let us know if it fails
