    Hi guys

What are your opinions on RAID when using 4TB or greater capacity drives. With the known URE issue with RAID5, would you be happy to use RAID6 or RAID50. I know probably the best answer would be to use RAID10, but are any of your guys using RAID 50. I can’t work out if RAID 50 is a safe option when it comes to URE.

This RAID will be hardware on HP server kit. I’m thinking of using 8 to 10 HDDs

    Thank you

Let me preface this with the fact that I’m not HDD expert. Just throwing out my gut feeling on this (and based on the knowledge I’ve gained and what I’ve seen).

What kind of space do you need and what kind of performance? Definitely don’t use RAID5… RAID50… I probably wouldn’t for that size drive. So RAID6 or 60 if you need the space, RAID10 if you need the performance. Are these SATA or NLSAS?
