    Hi,

Apologies if I somehow created another blank post.

I have an old computer I want to give away (recycle) but it has no OS and I can’t get it to boot from USB. It is a Sony Vaio PCG-7N1M … like, really old! I’ve looked all over the web and I can’t find an old manual or any real instructions for booting from USB. Some mention of an “Assist” button but the machine has nothing like that as far as I can tell, 5 buttons along the top, three are worn clear but two of those are volume related as well as “S1” and “S2”).

It detects my USB and I have enabled “External Boot Drive” … not sure what else I can do so any advice appreciated.

    Thx

    James

Does it have the option to use legacy BIOS mode. UEFI can restrict bootable USB devices.

    Hi Blood,

Sorry, I didn’t see this but I don’t think I got notified. No, there didn’t appear to be that feature in the BIOS.
