Kindly help me out. My domain has been registered for a while now and i have a webmail with this domain. But now that i want to have my emails on a microsoft exchange server, it complains about the number of character and the Netbios name is always cutting off. What can i do?

NetBIOS name is for legacy purposes and is restricted in length. Don’t worry about it, just accept the given value. The Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) is the mportant one

As per the current Microsoft best practice, you shouldn’t be using your registered domain name for AD. You should be using an unused subdomain of your registered domain for AD. Something like: ad.mydomain.com, or corp.mydomain.com. That would make the NetBIOS name AD or CORP.
