I currently have Win 2003 Server DC w/ Exchange 2003 running on it. Over the past year our 60 user network has grown to 98 users in DC. Now I’m to the point where I would like to move Exchange off of our DC and install it on a 2nd backup DC.
    Is this a difficult process?

Bear in mind that it is not recommended for Exchange to be installed on a DC, it should be a member server.

Sembee’s guide to doing a swing migration should be a useful starting point.

Nope – it isn’t hard. Just as long as you follow my guide and take your time.

My 2003 Server is called Server03. When I migrate Exchange 2003 off of it – I want that server to be named Server04 and then have Exchange 2003 removed from Server03 – is that possible with this guide?

    Yes.
I actually encourage the use of a new name for the server. Makes life a lot easier.

i want to keep my DC (server 2003) the same name – and move the exchange to a different server with a new name.

    Is that what you mean?

Yes thats fine. It is trying to use the same server name that causes problems.
