Hi All I hope I am in the right category I didn’t see a ISA server category.

From one moment to the other i cannot remote desktop from an exteral address. I checked the rule again in ISA server 2004 and it looks fine. Someone said I could edit a filter in ISA server 2004 to check whether it is blocking these outside requeststs. How can I verify whether ISA server is not stopping these requestst to remote desktop from an outside location? Everything worked fine before.

I need to know this before I start looking at other causes.

Check you’re logging if ISA allows RDP
Something must be change on you’re network. ISA 2004 won’t stop working suddenly.
You always can try rebooting the machine.

Re: ISA server 2004 will not let me remote desktop

I know where the logging section is, but how do I correctly configure it to verify wther outside traffick on the RDP port is let through to the designated server. The rule is correct, now what log should I put there.

So how do I see whether port 3389 is open for traffic? Also a question. If you enable logging do people need to try and log through terminal services to let these logs have effect?

Does any one have a good answer?

    Dave,
Much easier cannot be explained then following the wizards.
Just look at it and you should know it. Otherwise never change anything on a firewall if you don’t know how it works…

    Look at the dashboard.
    Go to the last tab.
    Click Edit Filter
    Choose for live monitoring
Choose to filter for RDP (or port 3389)
If you want, choose a destination IP (you’re server)
    Click start query.
    Let someone try logging on.
See what happens in the rule.

Can you ping the machine from the ISA server?
What has changed on the network…?????
