My PC is booting very slow. Is it required to enable the antivirus software to run during the startup?

Up to you, but IMHO yes

    How slow is “slow”?
Are you sure the AV is the cause?
    Which AV product is it?
What is the PC operating system?
    What are the hardware specs?

When you say ‘run during startup’, do you mean the scan to run. e.g. If you are referring to the AV sevices in the ‘Startup’ within MSCONFIG, you need to leave them active. MSCONFIG is also a good place to start for removing services that are maybe slowing down the machine. Make sure you look at what the services provide before disabling. You then need to reboot to see if it makes a difference.

Also, check whether you need to defrag the hard drive.
