We’ve run into an issue where occasionally our workstations are unable to gain an IP address from the DHCP Server even though I can clearly see there are available address

What I’ve done is run dhcp find and noticed an IP address that is not one of ours so I’d like to attempt to track it down.

    Could anyone suggest a tool?

If you have managed switches, you can start interrogating them.
VLANs will tie it down to a specific part of the network
Wireshark or similar may help but ultimately it is physically checking – remember the baseball bat so you can “re-educate” the user involved when you discover it!

Unfortunately the switches aren’t reporting much only that there are excessive broadcasts. Even wireshark is not reporting the ip address I’m seeing broadcast in dhcpfind.

I’ve got the network guys on it now, see what they can find
