    Hello, I am new to the forum. Presently I am working on my vista and server 2008 certs.

    I am working in virtual pc and having a problem installing my HP Officejet 6310 all in one printer. The printer is installed and recognized but will not print. This machine uses a USB connection.

    When I print the job shows in the print queue but only stays for 10 seconds and the queue is empty but nothing was sent to the printer.

    The printer works fine on the host machine but not in virtual pc.

    Any suggestion as to the problem.

    Re: Installing Printers on Virtual PC

    You cannot see the USB printer from within the virtual machine. None of Microsoft’s virtualization solutions supports USB connections.
    1) share the printer on the host and install it on the virtual machine as a network printer;
    2) use a PDF printer (like Bullzip, it’s free) to print to a PDF file and then move it to the host for printing;
    3) use other virtualization solution (less recomended – you will use ther advantage of using the VHD files).
