I am currently running Exchange 2003 SP1, on a server which is also the domain controller, but I am having troubles with the IMAP4 server, whenever I try to login in with a normal useraccount which has IMAP4 enable in the Active Directory, I get the following response in telnet:

“No login failure: unknown user name or bad password”

When I try to login with my own account I do get in, I have administrator privilages, but giving a normal account administrator privilages won’t help the situation.

I hope anyone has a solution.

    Greetings

    Hi Fabian,

Do the users have a different alias from their username?

If so, try logging in as domainusernamealias.

I am presuming that you don’t have any issues with POP3, OWA, MAPI ?

That indeed seems to be the problem, I changed all the exchange “alias” names to the usernames in active directory, and everyone can now login fine!

    Thanks!!!
