Is there a way to attach mailbox in Outlook or thru OWA so that supervisor can see the content, monitor user how he/she handles the business with clients without marking the emails as read so they can be processed as normal emails by user? Management want to check how the newly employed people contact clients (users will be notified about possible reading of the emails that they send).
Maybe setting some appropriate access rights on Exchange mailbox would be able to prevent it?

you could uuse journalling. That only works on an entire-store basis though.

So best option is probably just to give the manager Read access to the mailbox ?

It won’t prevent them from marking an email as read, so the onus would be on the managers to ensure they mark as unread

How about the “deliver a copy to another user” so it goes to both the original recipient and the manager? That can be done per mailbox

Check legality of this, and acceptable use policies, first!

This is what I was planning if everything else fails. Problem with this is that Manager want to see corespondence (not only what people are asking, but also what employee responds to be able to evaluate them after few months work). That’s why he wants to do it.

I was thinking about possible doing deliver a copy to another user and telling him to access “sent” emails only on their mailbox. But would prefer some cleaner solution :-)

Check out 3rd party email archiving tools such as Policy Patrol — you can create rules to intercept emails to/from a user and pass them to someone else. Money will be involved

In the Manager’s Outlook, turn on the Reading Pane. Set the Outlook Advanced options to not mark the message as Read when selection changes or when the message has been read in the Reading Pane.

This seems like a good option that I’ve considered but this will also affect managers emails. Or it’s possible to set it per mailbox in Outlook?

It’s not possible to set it per mailbox but you could create another Outlook profile on the manager’s computer and use this second profile to access the other mailbox with those options set.

Great idea with that second profile. If second profile can have different read settings then it’s the right way to go :-)
