    Hi everyone,

I have a big problem with my exchange server.

This is an SBS 2003 with SP1 and Echange 2003 with SP2.

Every 25 minutes i have an log in the event viewer with id 8197. I’ve checked on the internet and the microsoft Knowledge. I did wsht they said about fixing this error, including reinstalling exchange. Nothing helped and i still got this error.

The worse is that every day in the middle of the night, the information store go down.

Usually it is followed by event id 1005 MsexhangeSA.

Iran Isinteg -alltests, didn’t find any error

    I’m totally Helpless.

    Please help me!!!!!

    thx

Event IDs on their own are close to useless. You need to post the full text of the event, including the source etc. Open the event in question and choose the copy button on the right and paste the contents.

    Re: Event ID 8197

    Ok! thank you.

    So there it is

    first i have this:

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: MSExchangeSA
    Event Category: MAPI Session
    Event ID: 9175
    Date: 18/05/2011
    Time: 06:04:00
    User: N/A
    Computer: DOMAIN-DC
    Description:
The MAPI call ‘OpenMsgStore’ failed with the following error:
The information store could not be opened.
The logon to the Microsoft Exchange Server computer failed.
    MAPI 1.0
    ID no: 80040111-0286-00000000

    And this

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: MSExchangeFBPublish
    Event Category: General
    Event ID: 8197
    Date: 18/05/2011
    Time: 06:09:00
    User: N/A
    Computer: DOMAIN-DC
    Description:
Error initializing session for virtual machine DOMAIN-DC. The error number is 0x80040111. Make sure Microsoft Exchange Store is running.

The second message appear every 25 minutes
Although the store is up most of the time, it might go down suddenly in the middle of the night. Maybe caused by the backupExec.

    Thanks Again

    Re: Event ID 8197

do the errors correlate with the time your backup is running ?
Check the backup exec service account has appropriate permissions..

    when did this problem start?
What was changed prior to the problem occuring ?

    Re: Event ID 8197

First of all thank you for your response.

I’m not sure it correlate with the backup. It was just a Presumption but its not base on facts.

I know that it has something to do with the 8197 event that is logged every 25 mn.

In the microsoft solution the advice, among few, is to change the reg key

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlLsa and change the

LMCompatibilityLevel from 2 to 1. but after restart i can see that this key become 2 again.

I don’t understand what it does. it just something i found. beside that i did everything, nothing helped.

    Best practice analyzer is fine.

    I’m totally helpless. so weird

    thx

    Re: Event ID 8197

Beside the 8197 event that pop every 25 minutes, nothing show a regular pattern in the timeline. The information store dismount at different times.
I read somewhere the it might be linked to something with the sql instance, so i disbled the sql and i will follow up with the results.

Thank you for your help until now. Appreciate

was this article (Which seems specifically & exactly like your error) of any use?

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918006

Because it’s SBS, have you used the wizards to check everything is ok ?

    Re: Event ID 8197

I read this article and checked everything they suggest. The only thing that differs from my DC is the method 3 solution about the free/busy polling. It seems that the data value dca740c8c042101ab4b908002b2fe182 thats is under the subkey ExchangeAdmin, doesn’t exist.
They do not mention that if the subkey doesn’t exist, i’ll have to add it manually.

Do you have any idea about it. cause all the other suggestion by the article has been checked and did not fix my problem.

    thx
