    Good evening folks,
I have recently performed a non-authorative restore on a windows 2003 server AD DC. When I check the logs, I am getting the above event error with the following data:

The DNS server was unable to open Active Directory. This DNS server is configured to obtain and use information from the directory for this zone and is unable to load the zone without it. Check that the Active Directory is functioning properly and reload the zone. The event data is the error code.

    Any Ideas?

    Thanks in advance,
    Iain Jones

Hey Tacman, long time no see. Howz things? Found this on TechNet. Relates to 2000 server but fits your error like a glove, exacto even. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;884499

Is the DNS server on the restored DC working ?
Is the server pointing to itself as it’s primary DNS resolver ?
