Hello I did this: to disable SMB 2.0. I got the info from here but since i’m new i can’t post the link to the petri forum even though it’s the petri site:

article title:How to Disable SMB 2.0 on Windows Vista/2008
    sc config lanmanworkstation depend= bowser/mrxsmb10/nsi
    sc config mrxsmb20 start= disabled

So here’s the issue. On a dell optiplex running windows 7 32bit worked great didn’t touch the 2008 server. On a dell vostro running windows 7 32 bit once i make the change the netlogon and workstation service fail. Any thoughts on why this would happen? both system are loaded identically with software and have all of the latest and greatest service packs. Both dells are less than 2 weeks old.

Re: disabling SMB2 causes another issue

the reason for disabling is that certain apps have performance issues with SMB 2.0 in mixed environments or so i’m told. After many hours of research, various “tweaks” that did nothing and forums many people are having similar issues with a wide variety of applications and this seems to fix it. we are only disabling 2.0 and not 1.0. but in my case it works fine on one desktop but causes issues on the other as previously stated.

i will have to follow up tomorrow with this as i am not near the computer at the moment. netlogon and workstation service where both not able to start and failed trying to start manually but i do not have error codes currently. it’s funny that worked fine on one and not the other. i will post tomorrow. thanks
