    Hi Everyone
Would someone be able to tell me if a customer emails me and they have asked for a delivery receipt, can that be blocked?
I know i can stop a read receipt because Outlook asks me if i want to send a read receipt, by choosing the no option it will not send a read receipt but can i disable the delivery receipt.
Also if i cannot disable the delivery receipt can i edit it in any way to reflect a message like ‘

Note: This receipt only acknowledges that the message was displayed on the recipient’s computer. There is no guarantee that the recipient has read or understood the message contents.

    Thank you

No, you can’t block those messages.

That message isn’t generated by your server, but by the sending server. In the same way that NDRs cannot be stopped from being generated, as this is generated by the remote server, it is out of your control.

    Simon.

if you actually read a delivery receipt one time, it will say something along the lines of “it was relayed to the next server in the line”

so basically, your mail server would say it has definitely delivered it to, say, the MessageLabs server that you use as a smarthost.

doesn’t mean it’s ever been delivered.
