    Hi,

We have a number of SMTP servers we use to relay our clients email and we need to implement monitoring of queue size (to alert when issues occur and thresholds are breached) and to also additional counters to get an idea of usage/performance etc.

Both SMTP servers are Server 2008 R2 using the inbuilt SMTP feature (managed via IIS6)

We have PRTG in house and are looking at options surrounding this.

I have never setup or used any form of WMI monitoring before but it looks like this is what is likely to be required.

Has anyone got any experience of monitoring non Exchange SMTP servers they could share?

    Thanks

    Paul

    Hi there.

I use Nagios to Monitor Exchange and Non-Exhange SMTP Servers.

there are plugin’s(WMI/PSH) already created or you can create your own.

with Nagios there windows/Linux clients that can be installed that manage the scripts and alert the nagios web service, maybe there is a PRTG community site with the same information.

    Hope this helps maybe.
