  • Can't find Cmdlet on server 2008R2 and exchange 2010

    Hi all,

I am trying to create a recovery database for exchange 2010 to enable me to restore a user's mailbox.

Accroding to the microsoft artical "http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee332321.aspx"
the way to do it is by using the New-MailboxDatabase Cmdlet.

When I open PS on the server 2008R2 hosting exchage 2010 it seems that PS is unable to find the New-MailboxDatabase Cmdlet.

What do I need to do to make sure that I have all the Cmdlet for exchange 2010?

    Thank you
    Avi

Are you running regular powershell or the Exchange Management Shell -- AFAIK you need the Exchange one to access the specific cmdlets

      Hi Ossian,

Late last night after reading I realised that I need to access those Cmdlet via the Exchange utility I am new to exchange and toPS. So put my head into second gear and all is ok.
Again thank you very much for your help in the past, present and future.
Do I need to close this thread or do I leave it open?

      Again thank you very much

No worries -- glad you got it fixed
Thread will fall off the radar over the next few weeks / months but may help someone in the future

Adding this line to your script might also help and then you can use the "regular" powershell console.
