  • How do I Add desktop shortcuts using GP with login scripts

    First off just wanted to say hello to everyone, this being my first post.

    What I am wanting to do is add a shortcut to users desktop using the Logon Script.

    I need it to copy a TS shortcut so that the users can connect to one of the TS servers here. At times users change machines and I am wanting the users to have a TS shortcut on their desktops as soon as their porofile is created on a new machine.

    Can anyone help me out with this?!

    Thanks

    Re: How do I Add desktop shortcuts using GP with login scripts

    Here is the scrip.

    set oShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
    sDesktop = oShell.SpecialFolders("Desktop")

    set oSLink = oShell.CreateShortcut(sDesktop & "\Terminal Server.lnk")

    ' you can use UNC instead of driveletter as well
    oSLink.TargetPath = "%systemroot%\system32\mstsc"

    ' if you need arguments: replace the "x" with name of your terminal server
    oSLink.Arguments = "/v"

    ' create the shortcut
    oSLink.Save

    Save it as vb script and include it in your GPO.

    GOOGLE! you are genious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Thanks Torgeir Bakken for the script posted at http://www.codecomments.com
