  • Computer Startup script

    Hello EveryOne,

I want to run a .bat file from Computer startup (i-e before any user logs in).

This .bat file just calls a .vbs file which deletes a file from one of the folders.

When I run this .bat file from command it works okay. But when i add this to Computer StartUp script through local Group Policy Object. It does not run. Can any body suggest wht may be the problem.

    Regards,

    Yasir

Adding it to the start up folder will only work when a user logs in.

Now i'm no scripter but i would imagine that you would need to add a reg key to

    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Currentversion\Run

Perhaps the computer system account does not have the appropriate permissions?

As I am deleting a file from my D drive, and EveryOne group has full rights assigned to it.

Will just adding and assigning appropriate rights to SYSTEM for D drive work? Bcz i want to execute it before Login screen appears.

EDIT: Well I gave full permissions from Security Tab of D drive to SYSTEM. but it still wont work.

I have addded it in startup through gpedit.msc on local system running win2000.
Not in user profile's Startup folder.

I tried the registry entry u specified, but it runs when i log in, can it run before login screen.

By adding it in gpedit.msc 's startup script, it neither runs at computer startup nor at login. but atleast it executes with that registry key. but my requirement is before login(sorry for mentioning too many times)
