  • Start up and Shutdown Script with notification and cancel option.

    Hi everyone,

I need some direction on creating a script that shuts down a computer with a timed warning. This would be the notification part. Also, I need it to have a cancel option.

Also, I need a script to turn on computers. nothing fancy just to turn them on.

All computers are running windows xp except 1 computer which is running windows 2000. we can leave this windows 2000 one out if it's easier to do so.

This also needs to be ran remotely, unless its not possible and I have to add a script to all the computers.

Also, I need a windows that says "Computer shutting down in 5 mintues(5 mins is an example) click cancel if you would like to continue working on the machine.

As a last request, I don't want the script to fit if the computer was turned off before the time, or if the computer is on, before the on script time.

So here is what I was thinking:
Add the shutdown script to "server 1" and on "server 1" we include it into the scheduler to run the script at 4:00pm
Add the start up script to "server 1" and on "server 1" we include a script to turn on all computers at 5:00 am.

    Thank you!

How could a script start a computer that's shut down?

I thought you can use WOL(Wake on lan) in a script or something.
the script would run on the server and shut down the 70 to 90 other workstations.
