      Re: How to monitor disk space and send smtp to specific mail groups

      I tend to use 3rd party apps on the systems I look after.

      Paessler offers a free version of its' monitoring tool with limited sensors, look at http://www.paessler.com/

      There are lots of these tools out there. Easy to configure with big results.

        Configure an Alert in Performance monitor on Windows server 2003
        http://support.microsoft.com/kb/300504

        Configure an Alert in Performance monitor on Windows server 2008
        http://www.itestsg.org/2010/03/confi...s-server-2008/

        Configure it to run a command or program when an alert occurs.
        Launch a vbscript this way:
        wscript.exe "path\sendmailscript.vbs" servername /data:"...""
        (working with script arguments is optional, see sample below*)

        Here are sample Scripts for delivering an email message at the remote smtp (front-end/) server. Do not use authentication against the server.

        *How to work with Command-Line Arguments
        sample,
        Code:

        ' http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee156618.aspx

        ' command line sample:
        ' wscript.exe "path\scriptname.vbs" servername /counter:"processor time" /state:"over" /limit:"90%" /logfile:"path\file"

        strServer = WScript.Arguments.Item(0)

        ' preset arguments
        strCounter = empty  ' /counter:"<value>"
        strState = empty    ' /state:<value>
        strLimit = empty    ' /limit:<value>
        strLogfile = empty  ' /logfile:<value>

        Set colNamedArgs = WScript.Arguments.Named

        If colNamedArgs.Exists("Counter") _
           Then strCounter = colNamedArgs.Item("Counter")

        If colNamedArgs.Exists("State") _
           Then strState = colNamedArgs.Item("State")

        If colNamedArgs.Exists("Limit") _
           Then strLimit = colNamedArgs.Item("Limit")

        If colNamedArgs.Exists("Logfile") _
           Then strLogfile = colNamedArgs.Item("Logfile")

        Wscript.Echo "Server Name: " & vbNewLine & strServer _
           & vbNewLine & vbNewLine & "Alert:" & vbNewLine _
           & strCounter & " is " & strState & " " & strLimit _
           & vbNewLine & vbNewLine & "attached file:" & vbNewLine _
           & strlogfile
