  • Trimming Characters

I scanned a load of barcodes with a barcode scanner and then realised the date & time stamp was appended to the end or the serial number. I cant re-scan the barcodes as I no longer have them

I need some how to quickly remove the comma and everything after (20) characters.

    Example of current data:
    AVAGG7722,24/10/2009 11:30:46
    AVAGF7946,24/10/2009 11:30:47
    AVAGG7746,24/10/2009 11:30:48
    AVAGG0404,24/10/2009 11:30:49

    Needs to look like this:
    AVAGG7722
    AVAGF7946
    AVAGG7746
    AVAGG0404

Does anyone have any solution of doing this?

P.S. Iíve never used VB script which probably doesnít help

    Re: Trimming Characters

    Hi,

One way of doing it is to copy the contents into a Notepad file and then Save as CSV format. Then delete the columns you don't need.

If you wanted to script it, you could have used the vbscript left function.

I guess I'm too late though
