  • .M3u scripting Problems

    Hello,

I have made a website which holds alot of my .mp3's and I created a.m3u for the site however when I play the music I only get aroud half of it. I created it by creating a note pad file and copying all of the address of the songs from the site with a extra bit of script "#EXTINF:-1," - this is placed above the url. It is then saved a Playlist.m3u

Is this how I setup up the .m3u?

    The .mp3s play fine normally.

Here's an example of one... We use a service that opens the playlist so it can stream music from a server out to our PBX for hold music...

    Code:
    #EXTM3U
    #EXTINF:0,1.wma
    1.wma

    #EXTINF:0,2.wma
    2.wma

    #EXTINF:0,3.wma
    3.wma

    #EXTINF:0,4.wma
    4.wma

    #EXTINF:0,5.wma
    5.wma

    #EXTINF:0,6.wma
    6.wma

    #EXTINF:0,7.wma
    7.wma

    #EXTINF:0,8.wma
    8.wma

    #EXTINF:0,9.wma
    9.wma

    #EXTINF:0,10.wma
    10.wma

    #EXTINF:0,11.wma
    11.wma

    #EXTINF:0,12.wma
    12.wma

    #EXTINF:0,13.wma
    13.wma

    #EXTINF:0,14.wma
    14.wma

    #EXTINF:0,15.wma
    15.wma

    #EXTINF:0,16.wma
    16.wma

    #EXTINF:0,17.wma
    17.wma

    #EXTINF:0,18.wma
    18.wma

    #EXTINF:0,19.wma
    19.wma

    #EXTINF:0,20.wma
    20.wma

Is the 1.wma part the file name ?

Would this stop it from the audio been chopped halfway through and then jumps to the next file ?

      thnaks for the quick reply

        Re: .M3u scripting Problems

Yes, the filenames are numeric. 1.wma, 2.wma etc.
The file shouldn't be jumping to the next item in the list until the track is done playing.
They don't have to play sequentially if you're using randomize.

even when i use your way of codeing i still have the audio skipping.

          Any ideas ?

the streaming is to a iphone 3g - so it uses quicktime.

It's the iPhone or the 3g connection probably.
If you play the audio files locally (not on iPhone) do they skip?

its weird thats all the files play fine locally and when there stored on the server where the playlist is stored

              like

              http://www.xxx.com/Audio/Song1.mp3 - NOTE this a example url.

at the moment the phone is connected to wifi.

You should try doing the same thing but with a lower bitrate file to see if it helps.

Use something like Audacity (free, requires the Lame MP3 encoder which is also free) to re-encode the tracks.

Try moving some of the files onto the iPhone - both by downloading them from the webserver and by copying some other way, and see if they play properly - in other words, narrow the problem down to being something to do with streaming.

Have you noticed any patterns, such as the problem only occurring with certain tracks, always happening for some tracks and never for others, etc?

I have noticed no problems with the files both on the phone locally and on the webserver.

the files are fine like above. so it must be the stream.
