  • simply add a printer using a .bat logon script

Hi. I found threads called "simple add printer .bat script" and "Need help writing script to Add Printer" while looking for a way to simply add a printer using a logon script.

Although there were some replies to the posts, I ended up using a different solution. I then tried to share the solution, but the threads were closed.

So, if you need to add a printer to a PC on a network using a (logon) script, just add
    start \\computername\printer_share_name /MIN
to the logon script, or create a new one (called something like logon.bat) using Notepad.

computername can be the name of (or IP address of) the computer the printer is connected to, and shared from
printer_share_name is the the name you chose to share the printer as

You can also connect directly to a printer that is on the network, but you will need to have the drivers installed.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

I am sure this might be handy to someone, but it's not exactly a question or request for help, is it?!?
