  • Script for uninstalling Office 2003

    Does anybody have a script or can tell me how to write one that will uninstall Office 2000 when the user logs on? I'm not very good at writing scripts. Thanks for your help!!

    Just to clarify, is it Office 2003 (as in the topic heading) or Office 2000 (as in the message body)? Why do you want to do such a thing? What is the purpose?

      Office 2000 uninstall

      I need to uninstall Office 2000 so I can push out Office 2003 through Group Policy. It is not working doing the uninstall of Office 2000 through the install of Office 2003

        Push out office 2003 from your GPO but set it to upgrade.

        Kill 2 birds with one stone and all your client settings will stay intact.

          Use msiexec. In this case, the command is

          msiexec.exe /x {guid} /options

          This command will un-install any application in the "Add/Remove Programs", if you supply the correct GUID.
          The GUIDs are found at "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Un install"

          You have to scroll through the GUIDs to see what each one is, but once you have the GUID, it never changes.

          Using the Office 2000 GUIDs shown below, to remove Office 2000 Professional, the command would be

          msiexec /x {00010409-78E1-11D2-B60F-006097C998E7} /qn

          This will uninstall Office 2000 Professional silently, regardless of Service Pack level.

              For Microsoft products, you can find the GUID in the Setup.ini in the .\Files\Setup directory of the install source (CD, Admin Point).

              Office 2003 Pro
              [Product]
              ProductCode={90110409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9}

              Office 2003 Std

              ProductCode={90120409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9}

                  Re: Script for uninstalling Office 2003

                  I have the same issue and I hope someone can enlighten me on how to get around this.

                  I made a MST file using the ORK (Office Resource Kit). I even tried adding two MSIEXEC with the guids.

                  I assigned and published a GP to push 2003 Office.

                  What happens is that it leaves Office 2000 there. I want it to remove it. The MST file is programmed to upgrade the previous version.

                  I am truely stumped on this and would appreciate a nudge please.

                  Thanks,

                  GE
