  • How toMappe the Network drive using script?

    Hi,

I want a script for mapping the network drive on Windows XP machine. I'm using the Windows 2003 server for file server access and with that network users access the files by sharing the drive on there desktop machine. I want when machine boot's in network it automatically login to the server using login details and which is already mapped the network drive on users machine. I've implemented Active Directory on windows 2003 server for network user authentication system. Plz. assist me for the script.

    Thanks.

    Regads,

Why do you need to enter a username/password if you have given the user the correct permissions on both share as NTFS?

            Dumber is right,
If the users are member of the same domain as the file server you normally don't need to provide username and password when mapping the drive except when you set the security on the sharedfolder to allow only a few accounts.

You cannot map a networkdrive when the computer boots for making the mapped drive automatically available for all users on that computer.
Mappings are in individual security contexts only. So, the drive mapping must be done when an user logs-on to a computer (you can use an user logon script to make the mapping).

If you want to write a batch, Search this scripting forum for: net use
(and, additional information for when you do want to use alternate credentials: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...chNet.10).aspx )

If you want to write a vbscript, Search this scripting forum for: .MapNetworkDrive
(and, additional information for when you still want to use alternate credentials: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...h6(VS.85).aspx )

note when you use alternate credentials, the user can connect through share to the same server with only one set of credentials the time. You cannot create multiple mappings to the same computer with different credential for each mapping.

Yes I know. If the member of same domain then it's not required to give the username and password credentials after mapped the server shared drive as network drive. But there are some of the users which uses the fileserver though are not the member of same domain. And I need this script for them. Plz. give me script from I can able to map the drive and login using login credentials.

              Thanks.
