  • help with Xcopy - File name or Directory

    Hi guys,

i have searched the internet and google and tried a few switches of xcopy but it still happens and ask if specific OCX is Filename or Directory.

    Code:
    xcopy \\bprbas1\bas\bin\ocx\OCXs.log c:\bas\bin\OCXs.log /q /y
    xcopy \\bprbas1\bas\bin\ocx\BAS_DBTable.ocx c:\bas\bin\ocx\BAS_DBTable.ocx /q /y /h /r
    xcopy \\bprbas1\bas\bin\ocx\BAS_DBTable2.ocx c:\bas\bin\ocx\BAS_DBTable2.ocx /q /y /h /r
    xcopy \\bprbas1\bas\bin\ocx\BAS_Pelecard.ocx c:\bas\bin\ocx\BAS_Pelecard.ocx /q /y /h /r
    xcopy \\bprbas1\bas\bin\ocx\BAS_WebBrowser.ocx c:\bas\bin\ocx\BAS_WebBrowser.ocx /q /y /h /r
    xcopy \\bprbas1\bas\bin\ocx\BAS_ComboL.ocx c:\bas\bin\ocx\BAS_ComboL.ocx /q /y /h /r
    rem register ocxs
    regsvr32 /s C:\BAS\BIN\OCX\BAS_DBTable.ocx
    regsvr32 /s C:\BAS\BIN\OCX\BAS_DBTable2.ocx
    regsvr32 /s C:\BAS\BIN\OCX\BAS_Pelecard.ocx
    regsvr32 /s C:\BAS\BIN\OCX\BAS_WebBrowser.ocx
    regsvr32 /s C:\BAS\BIN\OCX\BAS_ComboL.ocx
this is part of the code, and for example on BAS_DBTable2.ocx it asks that :

Does __ specify a file name or directory name on the target (F = file, D = directory)?
    Thanks & Regards

Re: help with Xcopy - File name or Directory

Do not specify any 'file name' in the destination path. Just a path is enough.

xcopy copies a "path\FILE" to an other "path"
By adding the file name also to the destination path, the script ask you if it is a foldername.
(you can use; name.* or *.extension to change the file name. Or *.*)

try also the swith /D without a date specified.
This wil copy the file only if there is no or an older file on the target path. This is a recommended switch in logon batches.
