  • net send

    Can anyone tell me how to send a message to all users.

    It is the net send command but when I serach on the internet all the info doesn't seem to work and is only good for 1 user.

      It uses Messenger service in XP/2000 - so if you have clients running older systems - they wont get the message.

            If I'm not wrong in W98 there's a popup service, if we activated it we can received net send message too. Correct me if I'm wrong.

              You're right, it's called WinPopup. It's not a service though you'll actually have to launch the program

                ok then is there a way of turning on this service by a GPO? as there are about 1000 users and they can't be given access to the admin account (school!)

                  I don't believe there is a predefined GPO. You can however use a GPO script.

                  Read this for an example. Check out starting stopped services.
