    Does anyone know how to enable windows file and printer sharing through vbs to a remote machine?

    Re: enable windows file and printer sharing

    For this to work, you will need to:
    - install the network service;
    - enable it;
    - set the relevant rule on the station's firewall, if it has any.

    More questions first:
    - what OS are we talking about here?
    - is the File and Print Sharing for Microsoft Networking service installed? (it should show under Local Area Connection Properties, not under Administrative Tools -> Services)
    - do you have any firewall installed?

    In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure.

      It would be for XP and 2000 machines...what I have is a shutdown script, but it doesn't work on machines that have windows firewall on and if they do not have windows file and printer sharing enabled. I want to be able to do this all remotely, but I'm not sure if it's possible. I know what your talking about with windows file and printer sharing...thats how I figured out I needed it enabled under local area connection. Let me know if anyone can help, thanks.
