  • unable to run .bat file

    Hi guys,

I am a beginner in cmd shell. I need help to execute a batch file which the name is "start_nx.bat". When i run this batch file in cmd shell, it tells me that "The system cannot find the batch label specified - start_"

I need to run this batch file badly. Thanks for your help in advance.

    Re: Need help...

are you attempting to run it from the same folder location?

In otherwords, if it's at C:, are you at C: in the command prompt?

Also next time, please use a more informative thread title as per the rules. I've updated it for you.

Re: unable to run .bat file

Thanks for changing the title for me.

It's in another drive, "D:\xxx\nx\". I already switched to the correct drive and directory in cmd prompt. But when i run the batch file, it just threw me the message.

Re: unable to run .bat file

Please take a screenshot of the command window showing the file, the attempted run, and the error.

Odd. I'd rename the .bat file, see what happens. Are you able to run any of the other .bat files? Also, is the T drive local or a mapped drive? What OS?

Re: unable to run .bat file

The problem is within the batch file.
It is either is a text format issue (unsupported end of line characters) or, a label been called but the label does not exist.

                What editor are you using?
                Can you show the batch.

Re: unable to run .bat file

Silly question, but maybe the OS doesn't like the use of 'start_' as part of the filename? There is a 'start' cmd line instruction we've used when scripting multiple installs together, such as "start /wait msiexec /i ..." That forces the system to wait until the first execution is completely done before the next one starts. It's made some image deployments soooo much easier.
