  • Win 2003 NLB cluster on VSphere 5 accross 2 different geographic locations

We have 2 windows 2003 servers configured with SMTP service on IIS 6.0 in 2 different geographic locations.
These 2 servers are virtual machines on 2 different ESXi 5 clusters.
Messaging engineer want these 2 servers to be in a NLB cluster.
I am aware that NLB requires hosts in same subnet.
So a possibility of stretched VLAN accross datacenters is being explored with the network team.
I have found the following article but it relates to VI 3: - "Implementing Microsoft Network Load Balancing in a Virtualized Environment"
Are there any other requirements for the NLB to work properly & is this setup possible?

M$ NLB implementation sux big time. The way you have to set it up will disgust any sane network engineer. Please consider other solutions from well known LB vendors.

If you have no choice and have to go for M$ NLB, read those blog posts before:
