  • X64 guest VMs in X86 host PC- VMWare

    Hello,

I installed VMware server (for windows/free v.) on my laptop to create a VM lab. The host OS on my PC is Win2k8 R2 and I installed a couple of X86 VMs by now.

I want to install an X64 VM but it's giving an error that the CPU is not supported for X64 platforms and only X86. But if I'm able to install X64 as my host OS why not a X64 VM?

Appreciate some tips/ workaround for this

I don't know what CPU you got but review: http://www.petri.com/virtual_run_a_6..._in_vmware.htm
Also, check if VT is enabled in the BIOS.

Yes, but 32-bit VMs will run with no problem.
