  • Virtual disk won't boot

    Hi -

Have VM - Server 2003 domain controller - the drive C will not boot. I have created another VM and added the drive in as an additional drive and can see all the files.

Is there a way I can readily get it to boot again - or what may be the best way to get it back to a bootable server.

    Using VMWARE SERVER 2

Thanks for any help in advance

    Re: Virtual disk won't boot

You could try mounting the volume in another VM and then run "chkdsk /r (mounted unbootable drive letter):"

Can you provide any additional information??

There are so many things you might need to do, but the questions is so vague it is hard to help you.

      yep
      chkdsk the volume
then boot into a recovery console
      fixboot
      fixmbr

      failing that.. repair install
