  • 2 Nics in the same subnet

    Here's the scenario with VSphere:
    • 1 VM Windows Server 2003 (VM1) with IP 192.168.1.5 and a couple of services (let's call it A & B) running on it
    • 1 Physical machine (Windows Server 2003, IP 192.168.1.9) where a service C is up and running

I'd like to move service C to VM1 while not changing the IP address where service C is listening on. As a matter of fact I would need to modify the address on hundred of clients and that's not feasible.
At the same time, VM1 should keep also IP 192.168.1.5

Is it possible to configure 2 IPs belonging to the same subnet on my VM? Am I going to face issues? From a technical perspective what do I need to do?

    Regards

Re: 2 Nics in the same subnet

add a second IP address on the existing adaptor.

no need to have two adaptors, a nic can have multiple IPs
