  • Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 00:00

    Hello, new to vm:
    Guest:RedHat Enterprise Linux AS 3 (2.4.21-47.ELsmp)
    Host: Windows 7

Getting this error on workstation 7.1.3.
The P2V was created from a physical laptop (cold clone) two vmk files where created.
Moved these two files to laptop workstation 7.1.3 and when "power on this virtual machine" I get these famous error.
Steps done so far: in redhat.vmk change buslogic to lsilogic and or back to buslogic
Boot the VM with redhat disk, /mnt/sysimage and rebuild ramdisk.

In many forum it suggest to change the scsi controller type in the workstation hardware tab, but I do not see option only hard disk(scsi), usb controller, etc

    Thanks for any help

    kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.21-47.ELsmp ro root=LABEL=/ hdc=ide-scsi
    initrd /initrd-2.4.21-47.ELsmp.img
