  • ScratchConfig in vSphere Embedded 4.0 U1

    Hi

Do people enable and configure ScratchConfig (Host Configuration > Advanced Settings > ScratchConfig) on vSphere Embedded 4.0 U1?

I upgraded from ESXi 3.5 to vSphere 4.0 and the ScratchConfig settings were migrated across but i am moving to a new cluster (new hardware) and wondered if i need this now?

From articles on the internet i have read that ScratchConfig is not needed for HA now (post 4.0) but it still can be used for updates.

    - I use Update Manager where possible
    - I use HA and DRS

    Thoughts comments?

    Thanks!

    Simon

IIRC the ScratchConfig is only required if you boot from SAN because of the SWAP mechanism.

    Oh just found:

When you are using local storage you don't need to configure it...
