    Hello,

    I am looking to install vmware esx on windows server 2003 and/or 2008, i already downloaded the iso file and would like to know how to boot it on windows server box ?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hmm... ESX is a bare metal hypervisor so you wouldn'y install it on a Windows server, you would install it on a "blank" machine.

            Yes you can install ESX in Windows using Workstation.

            I use it at the moment in Windows 7 and have 2 instances of ESX and 2 instances of ESXi installed on it.

            BTW this was for version 4.1 of both and the Workstation is version 7.something.

            Is there a reason why you want to do this???

              Current Workstation version 7.1.2 build-301548
              Had it working (running ESXes in-a-box) since 6.5 with some tweaking. In 7, you can choose ESX as guest OS. You will not be able to run any virtual OSes under those ESXes though and you'll need a ton of RAM to make this work or even crawl.
