  • Clone a VM

    Hi,
    I'm really beginner in VMware.
I have a Linux VM production server that need to increase the size of the hdd.
I have the link on the procedure but i would like perform a clone on the VM to test it 1st?
When i clone the VM will all the network also duplicate? How do i prevent the VM to mix up with the live?

The NIC of the clone VM will get a different MAC address, so no layer 2 conflict. Watch out if the Linux guest OS has a fixed IP though, you'd need to change that in the clone to prevent a layer 3 conflict.

Can't you just use the tools to add more disk space on the server then use linux to expand the disk?

No knowing the version of linux its hard to try and find some documentation to do it, i'm not a Linux expert.
